Join us at 7PM for the opening of the first weekend of the Montreal Street Photography Festival at Foil Gallery, featuring a selection of talented photographers from around the world.
Discover new perspectives on street photography through a diverse range of visual approaches that move beyond the traditional. From abstraction and unexpected compositions to moments of nostalgia and poetic observation, this exhibition invites you to experience the streets in a different way.
The evening will be accompanied by Kinetic, a local music collective bringing the soundtrack and atmosphere to the opening night.
Come celebrate with artists, photographers, and the Montreal photography community while discovering the unique voices and visions shaping contemporary street photography.

PUBLIC METAL brings a fully functioning tintype studio and darkroom to the Montreal Street Photography Festival, offering the rare opportunity to experience one of photography's earliest processes firsthand.
Dating back to the 1850s, tintype photography made portraiture accessible to the general public for the first time. Each image begins with a hand-coated metal plate covered in a light-sensitive emulsion, exposed in-camera, and developed on site in just a few minutes. The result is a one-of-a-kind photograph — a direct physical impression of light, with no negative and no possibility of duplication.
PUBLIC METAL will be set up at Foil Gallery, creating portraits for anyone willing to wait. (Free)

For this installment of the MSPF Photowalk Series presented by Fujifilm, Garrett (@holyflicks) is leading a ‘photo marathon’ designed to cover a wide variety of Montreal street scenes. Starting at Foil Gallery, the route passes through the Mile End, Outremont and Park Ex before finishing at a pub. Participants will also have the opportunity to borrow a Fujifilm camera for the walk, courtesy of Fujifilm. This photo walk is aimed at those who like to stretch their legs and keep a moderate-to-fast pace. (Free)

Discover how a street photography project evolved into a decade-long documentary body of work spanning the United States, Mexico, and Guatemala. In this talk, you'll follow the journey of Run And Drive—from its early beginnings to becoming an Arte documentary, a feature in The New York Times, and an upcoming book.
Through behind-the-scenes stories, you'll gain insight into how long-term projects take shape over time, from adapting to unexpected challenges in the field to developing a compelling narrative. The session will also explore the technical, strategic, and promotional decisions that helped bring the work to an international audience, offering valuable lessons for photographers looking to build meaningful, lasting projects.
